On this day 250 years ago at Golden Grove Creek in what is now Greenville County, South Carolina Militia led by Captain Thomas Sumter captured about 95 Tory fighters who had been part of the force that had attacked the Patriot fort at Ninety-Six earlier in the month. Sumter would rise to the rank of Brigadier General and become one of the most famous of South Carolina’s military leaders, after the War was elected to the United States Senate.

Where my source is a webpage I usually just copy the web address from browser, but I list the books from my library in my “Sources” page and then just provide a short cite to the author’s name and page number here.]

Thank you so much for the info about your books. I found your sources page:

You have an impressive library of references. I count nearly 2 dozen books on this subject. I have a little library of about 700 books total but I doubt I have many more than 2 dozen books on history in general, let alone on the American Revolution in particular. I’m envious. I’ve been grateful to you in the past for your reading suggestions. This “sources” page may yet prove to be another cache of excellent reading suggestions.
