On this day 250 years ago, about1500 men under the command of General Philip Schuyler occupied the undefended Île-aux-Noix in the Richelieu River of Canada. With this action the nascent United States invaded Canada and began the siege of Fort St. John.

  1. People don’t realize that we invaded Canada twice. And burned Toronto (York) before the British burned DC in the war of 1812. No wonder the Canadians are touchy about that 51st state thing.
