On this day 250 years ago in the Revolution — April 4, 1774

On this day 250 years ago in Williamsburg, immigrant St. George Tucker of Bermuda was admitted to the Bar of Virginia. Tucker would go on to serve with distinction in the Virginia Militia at the Battles of Guilford Courthouse and Yorktown and after the War would become one of the most influential legal scholars and judges in the United States.

He was not living there when he was admitted to the Bar, but you can visit his later home in Colonial Williamsburg today.
