On this day 250 years ago in the Revolution — March 15, 1776

On this day 250 years ago off the coast of South Carolina, the HMS Syren, a frigate with 28 guns and 160 men, captured an American brig (a smaller vessel) transporting an artillery company from Pennsylvania to Charlestown. The British captured a captain and 78 men but I have not identified their names or their fate in captivity. However, the British treated American prisoners very harshly so it is likely that many of these men never returned home.
