Late at night the previous day or early in the morning on this day 250 years ago in Williamsburg, Virginia, a company of teenagers led by fourteen-year old Henry W. Nicholson broke into the Powder Magazine to seize muskets. The door to the Magazine was booby-trapped with a spring-gun that fired grape shot when the boys forced the door seriously injuring two or three of the boys. The people of Williamsburg were outraged and demanded retribution from Governor Dunmore for booby-trapping the door. Henry Nicholson would join the Continental Army and serve until 1782.
