On this day 250 years ago in Boston schoolteacher James Lovell wrote to his good friend Josiah Quincy, Jr, who was on a not-too-ssecret mission to London that:
I imagine I may by this Time congratulate you upon a general Change in the Prejudices of the People of England with Regard to us Americans and our Claims. Be that as it may, I can certainly call on you to rejoice at the firm Continuance of that heaven-inspired Union of the Colonies, which you saw form’d before you left us.

Also on this day in Cambridge, the Massachusetts Provincial Congress responded to a request from the Town of Worcester about 100 bayonets ordered by the town for its militia. The Provincial Congress ordered an accounting of how many bayonets had been paid for and that they be delivered to Worcester.
